It's not that ATVs are more fun than a RZR but a rider on an ATV can interact with the atv, as in using body weight and position on the ATV to navigate a trail or obstacle,... while a person in a RZR or the like,.. basically has no interaction other than turning the steering wheel, applying, throttle and brakes mainly because they are sitting down and strapped in,... not to mention the weight of a RZR/SXS. It's just my individual preference.

The only disadvantage to the RZR is price. But, RZR is MUCH more fun at the dunes or cinders than a 4x4 quad. With paddles on the back, itll climb anything you find at Glamis. Rent a RZR, then decide-strapped in + a cage, doesnt take a genius to figure out whats safer.
BTW co-worker of mine bought a RZR+trailer, and in almost 2 years now has 10 hours on it. I told him to rent at first too. "I told you so lol". Wanna make him an offer, I can get you a number, but there are probably cheaper ones out there on Craigs.

I decided to keep my TRX300 for now even though I bought the RZR. 2 reasons, first I still like riding the ATV, totally different feel than the RZR. As previously mentioned you lean and push and pull and stand and sit and, damn, sounds like a Jane Fonda tape .
Second, the market is so soft on used bikes and I didn't need to sell it.
I prefer the RZR overall but couldn't tell you why, I think it's a personal preference. I am still jealous of X_DA_C and his 3 wheels in the air stuff, just dont have that in me. My wife did tell me I was on 2 wheels when I was on Boulder Trail in payson, but the camera was with me so she didnt get a picture.
good luck! Sounds from other posts that you are leaning RZR.

even at 2 wheels it is an unbelievable move. AWESOME photo....
A quad will do that and next picture would be picking your butt up off the ground and turning your bike back on its wheels!

Thats the advantage to a rzr vs a quad..tho you have no reason to do something like that unless your zane. But then again..if you do screw up and go off the edge or get caught in a roll, your going with the rzr( which is why 4 pt harness sis a good idea ) where as with a quad you can hopefully bail and get out of the way.

i have thought about changing my seat belts. not so much for the reason you say but the one complaint I have about the RZR is the seat belt. IT sucks. Keeps cinching up and its really hard to loosen.
Over all I am getting more comfortable with mine but doubt I will ever get that zaney!
Question, what did you pay for your skid plate kit? I still need to do that.

Id invest in a set of 4 points. 100 bucks each but they work and are comfortable. I've tested them a few times..not on purpose! Some times i get lazy and dont wana be strapped in all the way so i just wear the lap belt. Not the smartest thing to do.
I bought a 4 x10 sheet for 250ish of the uhmw(hard plastic) and cut it out myself. then broke my frame in half and now have 3/16 steel welded to the frame underneath, and then the uhmw over top of it for even more protection. Just the plastic isn't strong enough, it doesn't have the strength properties as a steel or aluminum skid plate would. Instead, the plastic just acts as a slider, even tho it is thick and you wont break or bend it.

thanks, I am not handy with the self cutting these days but have some people who are. I like the idea of the metal and plastic combo. I am looking at ready made aluminum and steel kits and seeing about $400 for the under and side body and another $150 for the suspension and CV plates (ouch). If it comes down to it though, worth every penny if you dont destroy the frame.
