I just read from a news letter (I think it was ASA) that BLM is going to grade a new road in for next season....

The paper work has started..... http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medial.../EA2009_64.pdf

Take a moment and read through this, it is very enlightening. Notice how they throw in a 5 lane wide fee collect area. I'm kind of surprised they haven't done this already. Instead of driving around all the camp areas checking rear view mirrors. Enter & travel down Wash Road with permit only.

California does not recognize street legal for atv's or golf carts.

.....and why do we need to be street legal when you get there by riding through the desert? Not all of us ride on the dirt roads there

Maybe it is because once you leave the Imperial Sand Dune area east of the railroad tracks you are required to travel on designated routes only.

Exactly!!!

It looks like they are trying to get it designated a Dual-Purpose Road from 78 down to the Boardmanville turn off, out to the bar. Any further down Ted Kipf Road would get you a ticket. So if you're coming in from the dunes you would need to go under the tracks at Wash 10, or drive all the way north to 78, cross the tracks there. As always it takes a long time for stuff like this to makes its way through the bureaucracy.

Griz, I don't know if you have ever been through wash 10 to get to Boardmanville, but there are MANY trails.....and they ALL lead to the bar. I've been going there for a long time (anyone remember when the shower was the main attraction?)....now it is really starting to suck to go to the dunes....and some of you guys wonder why I go to Mexico so much

There will be no more crossing under or over the RR tracks at Wash 10 or anywhere. The RR is replacing the wash bridges with culverts when they put the second set of tracks in and then fence will keep you from crossing also.

The only way to get to Boardmanville next year will be to go up to 78, cross at the legal crossing, and then drive down Ted Kipf Rd. which is a street legal roadway,

California does not recognize ATVs, UTVs, or rails as street legal even if they are in Az.

My bad!!! I forgot about the RR fence. Which is really bad considering the thread topic. Doh!!

Hopefully by this fall, it will be designated Dual Purpose. Or we'll need to pile everyone in the back of one of our trucks........
