Default Trail designation in the Tonto
Please be actve and continue to check the tonto's homepage. The latest changes being made are the Trave Management Rule - Basically a trail designation process that could change your favorite trail. 4x4 trails could become horse only - single track dirtbike trails could become horse trails, or be closed all together. Its mostly ohv stuff that will be closed. I will do my best to find out where and when they will have a meeting so we can all be there to make sure our favorite trails stay the way they are. I am a four wheel drive enthusiast, but i also know that atv's and 2-wheelers need their own areas away from truck traffic, too. i will make sure these places are equally shared when I voice my opinions at the public hearing which is TBA. I hope others can also be there. here is the tonto's homepage, go to the link on the right of their page that has the 3 quads in the picture and says "travel management"
http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/tonto/home.shtml

the only problem is that they are releasing the new motor vehicle use map for the cave creek ranger district in september, but there are no public hearing dates posted on their webpage yet. mesa ranger district has been pushed back to 2009. check the page and call the phone number of your local district representative to find out more!

find the date there going to be puting up the road closed signs and everyone show up and ride there that day, everyone. Hell with there meetings. They know how we feel, there going to close it anyway. look at bushnell tanks. This may sound extreme to some of you, maybe most of you but tell us what is realy going to work against these COMMUNISTS. We need another boston tea party for sure.

Wells is right. If we are all there riding then they will run away with their tails between their legs. The same thing happened in High School. After a basketball game a cop tried to arrest someone. Everyone surrounded the cop and he ran away. It was the Mountain View riot of 1990.

This isn't just a Tonto issue, it is a nationwide rule and also affects Coconino Forest, Apache Sitgraves Forest etc.

we need to put more pressure on them and let them know we dont want there rules, we want to make our own rules and be heard not told you will do what the usfs wants or nothing at all. Do we really want them to be in control, or do we want it. I have faith that we as a group of free americans can govern ourselves without the usfs dictating what we do.

wow! i'm so glad you guys are as upset as I am. I will keep everyone up to date as soon as I find out the meeting dates - meanwhile, check the tonto page for the phone number of your local rep. and call them and pressure them about meeting dates so that the public can be involved. i have some friends of friends at channel 12 and I will try to get something on the news about this as well. hypoxia is correct. this a nationwide issue affecting all natl forests, i just only have time to focus on 1 natl forest.
