I think some of them are taking effect in the valley already but I'm crossing my fingers that they wont go into effect up on the Rim untill AFTER Memorial Day. Nothing like a cold beer and a good camp fire. Otherwise, I can deal with the fire restrictions up on the Rim but it looks like we can expect complete forest closures this year. Now, that sucks!

My friend called Sedona Police yesterday as we are looking for a June trip and they said there is already a "no open flame" restriction.

Just read about it today in the newspaper, the golden day is suppose to be May 14th. Everywhere is suppose to be closed to campfires except in designated campgrounds. No outside smoking, charcoal grills, or wood stoves. Only gas grills.

Not hardly Mark. The restrictions are for a reason.

camping with no campfire sucks... what are we going to catch on fire at the cinders, the lava rock?

Theres a radio ad here in the white mountains that says the forest service is debating closing the forest early this year. They say its as dry now as it was in 02 when we had the fire. I think thats bogus as most of the creeks still have water in them and some are flowing a little. It is real dry though. They like to close just before memorial day and dont reopen until after we get lots of rain,so come ride asap if you want to ride the white mtns. They dont close the north side of the 260 usually.

Was reading the local newspaper today and they're already doing the no open flame thing and it looks like camping is pretty much out of the question come the first couple weeks of June. We have more water in the lakes than we've had in over 15 years though. At least I'll be able to drive around jusn not camp![V] I guess we'll go in the end of July when the "Monsoons" come.

There are no camping closures yet but I am sure there be. This is nothing new for Arizona.
