Interesting how the AZ State Trust Land page says:
"Off road driving is also prohibited (as it always is) on the Trust Lands."
Does "off road" mean "off the [u]designated</u> roads and trails"?

That's the way I would interpret it.

I called Prescott National Forest and found out that street registered ATV use is OK on FOREST ROADS ONLY...In fact they don't want any vehicle travel off of Forest Service ROADS....She didn't know if the the last couple of miles in Prescott National Forest to Crown King 'the hard way' was considered a trial or road though...
But she said the Minnihaha road was Ok for street registered ATVs.:D:D:D

Looking at google maps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...wloc=addr&om=1
The y-intersection at the bottom is CK Rock. Left (via Minnihaha) is 'Cow Creek Road' and right (hard way) is 'Crown King Trail' - at least up to a short section of NF-711 / Fort Misery. Having been on that section or road before it is much like the road to the staging area. Beyond Ft. Misery it looks to be Forest Roads (NF-192) all the way to Senator Hwy:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=14&iwloc=addr
The question is whether Crown King Trail is a road or a trail. I think a reasonable person would call it a road. Heck that section may not even be in PNF so maybe it doesn't matter.

I went to Adamana today via Flagstaff and they have big signs on I-17 (Coconino) that say "NO FIRES...NO CHARCOAL"... Also the bridge at the Verde is OPEN.

Damn sad that Mormon Lake area is under the gun...we love camping in Munds Park and fishing at Ashurst Lake.

The fire was about a mile and a half from my buddy's cabin in Long Park. His wife a dog went home on Saturday. He took his horses somewhere else and he is still there. WE NEED RAIN!

I don't know if it helped, but my folks have a cabin 5 miles south of mormon lake, and said it poured rain and hailed this weekend. Looks like the fire is still going though.

Tonto National Forest lifts fire restrictions
PHOENIX (July 24, 2007) - All fire restrictions affecting the Tonto National Forest have now been lifted, effective Thursday, July 26 at 8 a.m.
The fire restrictions, which covered the entire forest, are no longer needed because fire danger has been reduced by increased moisture and humidity from the annual monsoon season.
"We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we had to restrict access and activities on the Tonto during this fire season,"
said Tonto Forest Supervisor Gene Blankenbaker. "Arizona's fire season this year was made easier by a noticeable decrease in human-caused fires. We appreciate our users supporting and observing the fire-safety rules and ask that they continue to do so."
For more information about the Tonto National Forest, please call 602-225-5200 or visit the forest website: www.fs.fed.us/r3/tonto
The latest fire restriction and closure information for public lands across Arizona can be found at http://gacc.nifc.gov/swcc/ or by calling toll-free 1-877-864-6985.
