Default Safety Belts for the Prowler
I am going to put aftermarket safety belts in our Prowler. There are two styles "H" type & "Y" type. Anyone have teh pro & cons ofteh two styles ?
The "Y" type look like they would be fine and quite a bit cheaper.

Thx,

i have the y belts on my prowler, i like them so much on my mini buggy i purchased the same ones for my prowler. mounted one end on the head rest, welded on a 1/2 tube on lower side of head rest so the seat belt doesn't chaif, and the other two ends use the stock mounting locations, purchased them from wescoperformance.com, cost is $59.95 each side, the ones i have is 3" lap belt with the 2" shoulder belt. item #50540

The ones I am looking at are from www.everythingoffroad.com Item #1153. They are $44.95 ea.
I do know that I understand your note "welded on a 1/2 tube on lower side of head rest so the seat belt doesn't chaif" ?
They look like that they would work just fine for our Prowler.

if you mount the belts any lower their would be little or no adjustments on the shoulder belt, by adding the tube you prevent the belt rubbing against the edge of the head rest. also here a picture of leg protectors i made.

Ok, I see what you mean now. The ones I am looking into have a single strap that goes around the tube like yours and then drops down before the "Y". Not sure if would make much difference?

I am going to make some quick release leg minders with 1" webbing. Real NASCAR looking...

Thanks for the pic's.

not intending to pick on the belt mount, but if you go over, the shoulder belts won't help you any. they need to be mounted behind and lower than your shoulders. preferrably about shoulder blade height so they keep you in the seat and not let you up to the hea rest. look at crow industries web site for mounting info. Crow also has a recall on buggy belts with the shoulder harnesses sewn to the laps. You send em and they'll fix them to be ancored to the buckel independently. My two cents.

Your are correct. The instructions clearly show them to be mounted as you described. But I think mounted to the cross bar on the head rest with no slack does a pretty good of holding in place. I mounted mine today and gave them a seat of the pants test . Holds you in place pretty dang good. I will look into a mount point for the proper back strap arrangemnt to see what it would take. I just am not sure the effectiveness is there with the plastic seat bases ?

Here is what they look like right now.

i don't think you need to change the mounting position, the way they mounted seems to work good, also if the shoulder belt suppose to be mounted lower than the shoulder then every car and truck ever made has them mounted incorrectly.

I agree. But, odtodd1az is correct on the "proper" instructions included with the belts.

These babies really hold you in place !
