Default Generator Question
Does anyone know the life of 5.5 Onan generator? We are looking at a toyhauler and the onboard generator has 900 hours on it. What is the replacement cost of one if that doesn't hold up?

Thanks

My 5.5 is 6 years old and has about 230 hours on it.

If it was maintained then I would not worry about it.

I think new they are around $3000 - $4000.

900 hours is not that much. I had a 4KW Onan a few years ago with 2400 hrs and still running strong. As long as it had been peridically ran and oil change, then there is no problem. Onan is a good generator.

if you need to buy a replacement, a guy on glamisdunes.com said he picked up a 5500 on craigslist for 1200... but i bet with oil changes it will last as long as you have that trailer

Thanks guys. Turns out that it wasn't wide enough. Hellova deal for someone out there though. It was a 2005 Weekend Warrior that was 34' and she had it listed for $18000 but said she'd let it go for $14000. Pics looked good and everything. Damn
